Job purpose
The Café Manager of Ferris’ Holland, Michigan location oversees daily store operations and encourages the staff to excel personally and professionally in order to accomplish strategic goals. This employee ensures that all company, staff, and customer needs are met in a timely manner and takes the actions necessary to promote a positive brand experience. The Café Manager maintains status as a Ferris barista and frequently works shifts behind the bar as needed. Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of Specialty Coffee standards, the motivation to drive sales while leading and developing others, and should have the ability to creatively manage resources. This individual performs all aspects of the job with a genuine commitment to customer care.

Ferris seeks a motivated individual who desires to lead and is willing to serve. This individual is an ambassador for the Company and seeks to build connections between our products, our team, and the communities we serve. The ideal candidate has 2+ years experience in either Specialty Coffee or fine-dining as well as prior retail management experience. This individual will collaborate with various departments and lead team members through exceptional care, positive communication, and a genuine interest in our team, the products we produce, and the customers we serve.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Lead and inspire a team to create a world class customer experience.
  2. Drive financial excellence and achieve strategic objectives.
  3. Take total ownership of customer experience and lead by example.
  4. Manage store P&L by utilizing resources to drive sales and control costs.
  5. Remain knowledgeable of industry trends and internal product standards.
  6. Build and develop relationships with the community and company partners.
  7. Assume administrative duties such as ordering, inventory management, cash flow, scheduling, and payroll.
  8. Assist with HR duties such as interviewing, corrective action, and employee reviews.
  9. Frequently work shifts behind the bar as needed to experience firsthand store performance and needs.
  10. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Key Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • Minimum 2+ years working in the specialty coffee, hospitality, or specialty food and beverage industry

  • Working knowledge of financials, cost/resource management, and overall operations.
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time Salary (exempt)
Base Salary $42,000 - $50,000 (annual)
Store performance bonus based on sales and labor control

Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; crouch or stoop and bend at the waist; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach/grasp with hands and arms. The position involves frequent sitting, standing, walking and lifting less than 25 pounds regularly throughout the day. The employee is required to analyze product by taste/smell and makes corrective actions based on taste/smell. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading. Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. This position may involve exposure to potential allergens.
