The communication and events manager is our lead storyteller. This role is responsible for creating and preparing communication pieces and executing events and programming.

Ideal candidates have the following knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Flexibility: ready and able to change and adapt to different circumstances
  • Communication: the ability to write, listen, ask questions, and present information clearly and consistently, while also being concise. Strong writing and editing with clarity of purpose
  • Critical Thinking: the ability to be proactive, anticipate needs, ability to make decisions with incomplete and sometimes ambiguous information.
  • Storytelling: the ability to drive engagement and brand awareness through storytelling across all communication channels.
  • Anticipates, takes initiative, and independently assesses situations and leads action and can project manage events and communication planning effectively. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Event Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and communication platforms. Demonstrated ability to learn and use new software and systems.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Create copy for newsletters and monthly investor emails, press releases, and event communication.
  • Manage media and public relations efforts to achieve high-visibility, positive presence in the region and beyond.
  • Work as part of the engagement team and support leadership team members on major initiatives, events and announcements.
  • Foster relationships and liaise with local and national media outlets to share our region’s successes to help gain exposure.
  • Plan and execute in-person and virtual special events and programming designed to engage investor partners and key stakeholders.
  • Create and execute communication plans that align with organizational objectives.
  • Manage third party relationships including vendors and support agencies.


Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week 

Supervisor: Vice President of Engagement
