Job Description
The Hope College Education Department invites applications for a tenure-track professor in education beginning in the fall 2024 semester. The department seeks candidates who will teach some of the following courses: Foundations of Education, Introduction to Secondary Education, Classroom Management, Assessment in Secondary Schools, Principles of Secondary Education (capstone course). Rank is open.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in education, advising teacher candidates, organizing and supervising clinical experiences, fostering positive relationships and partnerships in both area schools and private programs, and active participation in departmental activities (primarily participating in the secondary and national accreditation teams), maintaining an active research agenda.

Qualifications
General qualifications include a valid teaching certificate with a secondary endorsement, a record of excellence in teaching and scholarly/creative activity, experience in and a commitment to diversity in education, knowledge of secondary methods and high-leverage practices, experience with technology for instruction, and effective interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate selected for this position will demonstrate expertise in secondary methods.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a doctorate degree in education with a focus on secondary methods (Ed.D. or Ph.D. preferred) and experience in PK-12 teaching.

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
