Engagement Officer for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The primary focus of this position serves and supports underrepresented alumni and families. This position functions under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and works in close collaboration with the Director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, the Vice President of Development and Alumni Engagement and the Chief Officer for Culture and Inclusion.  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and provide programs and services, in partnership with the Center for Diversity and Inclusion and other campus partners, that will support and enhance the overall success of students, alumni and families.  
  • Oversee the newly formed Alumni of Color Advisory Council, in collaboration with the Center for Diversity and Inclusion. 
  • Co-manage and serve as an ambassador and advisor for mentoring programs in partnership with the Center for Diversity and Inclusion and the Boerigter Center for Calling and Career. 
  • Facilitate presentations for alumni and families to boost intercultural competence and provide continuing educational opportunities for growth and development. 
  • Plan and coordinate networking opportunities, affinity events and alumni engagement activities, including responsibly managing budgets. 
  • Build relationships to support strategic alumni and family engagement outcomes, including student recruitment, career development and philanthropy. 
  • Develop a pipeline of potential volunteer leaders for the Alumni Board, Parents’ Council, Board of Trustees, and Center for Diversity and Inclusion volunteer groups. 
  • Represent the college through partnerships with organizations in the community to strengthen intercultural collaborations and create business and community connections that can benefit students. Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated intercultural competence, commitment, and experience working with diverse populations; proven through educational background and professional development. 
  • Experience developing and leading education and/or outreach programs, preferably addressing components of diversity and inclusion.  
  • Engaged in, created, and/or presented in diversity, equity, and inclusion conferences, organizations, programs, and events.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with students, alumni, campus partners and various stakeholders. 
  • Strong project planning and management skills.
  • Ability to initiate both independent and collaborative projects and drive them forward to completion. 
  • Experience within an institution of higher education, a secondary school, or a related educational setting. 
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of experience. 
    • Master’s degree is preferred, however a combination of relevant experience and education will also be considered.
