A Fleet Shuttle Driver can make anywhere from $19-$22 / hour Depending on Experience, this position is also eligible for Overtime Pay!


Additionally, if you choose a 2nd Shift position you will receive a $1 / hour shift premium!

Job Overview

We are currently looking for a Fleet Shuttle Driver, on 1st and 2nd shift, to join our team in Holland, MI.  

As a Fleet Shuttle Driver, You Will:

 

Operate a semi-tractor to transport goods between plants, pick up/deliver vendor parts, and/or move truck trailers into and out of loading dock.

 

Some of Your Responsibilities Will Be:


  • Operates semi-tractor as needed; assures accurate count and secure load; verifies and records information.  May complete daily driving log and weekly trip report.
  • Performs daily pre-trip safety inspection per Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements on tractors and trailers, ensuring safe operation of vehicle.  Completes appropriate paperwork.
  • Hooks and unhooks trailers, assuring air lines are secure and wheels are chocked, to meet workload goals. Frequently opens and closes trailer doors (in windy conditions, can exert force up to 150 pounds).
  • Loads/unloads incoming parts and finished products and assists with loading and unloading trailers, using gas reach, picker, and/or forklift.  Regularly lifts product/materials weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds (assistance given with heavier objects).
  • Inspects tractors and trailers daily, ensuring compliance to Michigan DOT regulations.
  • Communicates with Traffic Coordinator, suppliers, and Receiving dock members to verify schedules, routes, shipments, and loading/unloading.
  • Responsible for light maintenance of tractor, including regular checking of fluid levels, ensuring vehicle remains in good working condition.  Delivers tractors/trailers to service vendor when required.  Washes tractor weekly and maintains cleanliness of interior.
  • Must frequently climb in and out of tractor cab.  During winter, may climb under trailer, carrying sledge hammer, to free up frozen brake drums.
  • Performs all duties as assigned to meets daily schedule requirements.
  • Participates in and follows all workplace safety procedures including wearing proper personal protective equipment and keeping work area safe and clean.

Do you have these required qualifications?

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of applicable training
  • Two years recent all-weather semi-tractor driving experience ("recent" is defined as being within the last five years)
  • Valid Certified Driver’s License (CDL) 
  • Must pass road test, DOT physical, and trucker leaser's driving test

Do you have these preferred qualifications?

  • Over the Road Experience with 53' Trailers. 

Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:

  • Ability to maintain valid CDL
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary endorsements / permits
  • Maintain accident-free driving record
  • Ability to read maps
  • Working familiarity with manual transmissions.
  • Ability to lift/move material weighing up to 60 pounds
