Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Material Planner to join our team in Holland, MI.
As a Material Planner, you will:
Performs basic planning functions to ensure purchased materials are in place to support manufacturing process and/or optimizes constraints in manufacturing site to support order fulfillment.
Some of the responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Learns to manage inventory of assigned manufactured parts and/or purchased domestic parts to ensure material is available to support customer requirements while maintaining financial inventory objectives.
- Regularly reviews and understands work center and plant capacity requirements to ensure customer demands can be met.
- Learns to apply appropriate optimization methodologies to balance service levels, inventory, and resource utilization.
- Under direction of senior staff member, develops and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to pre-established manufacturing sequences and lead times to produce executable schedule.
- Expedites orders through supply chain to ensure perfect execution.
- Maintains database for manufactured and or purchased parts to ensure successful processing of customer and supplier demands throughout item’s material list.
- Coordinates transportation between plants, transit to customers, receiving, and work centers to meet business needs.
Do you have these required qualifications?
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or similar.
- Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.
Do you have these preferred qualifications?
Production Planning:
- Experience with level loading and capacity planning.
- Regular use of Excel in the workplace.
- Prior experience with ERP systems, especially SAP.
- Familiarity with (department) processes and systems.
- Experience in electronics, automotive, or furniture manufacturing environment.
Commodity Planning:
- Experience working with suppliers.
- Regular use of Excel in the workplace.
- Prior experience with ERP systems, especially SAP.
- Knowledge of material flow and supply chain functions.
- Experience using lean manufacturing concepts.
Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:
- Understanding of JIT concepts and make to order manufacturing environment.
- General knowledge of supply chain functions.
- Lean background and continuous improvement experience.
- Root cause problem solving skills.
