Job Overview

We are currently looking for a North America Sourcing Director to join our Supply Chain Management team in Holland, MI.  This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer


As the Sourcing Director for North America you will:

Be responsible for the leadership, planning, organization, process and management support, and performance of sourcing function in support of North American operations.  Lead a team of supply chain commodity managers and provide guidance in the development and/or enhancement of sourcing strategies.  Collaborate with sourcing leaders in Europe, Asia Pacific, and other affiliates to establish cohesive strategies and leverage best practices that will further improve the overall business.  Provide tactical process coordination and enhancement while collaborating with global Operations leadership.  Support operations by monitoring the delivery, schedule, and quality of goods and services to ensure the delivery of the best total value for our customers and the corporation.  

Do you have these required qualifications?

  • Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management or Engineering preferred)
  • 15 years experience in Procurement, including 7 years in leadership role, with progressive levels of various materials management experience
  • Experience managing projects with cross-functional and/or global teams
  • Demonstrated experience in offshore sourcing

Do you have these preferred qualifications?

  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Certification in CPSM or CPSD by the Institute for Supply Chain
  • Experience directing multi-level global procurement function for large manufacturing company
  • Exposure to and working knowledge of Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) methodology strongly preferred

Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, particularly within highly competitive and demanding setting
  • Extensive continuous improvement experience
  • Strong proficiency in Lean tools/techniques required
  • Ability to collaborate with suppliers to ensure cost and quality advantages
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, government agencies, and public
  • Demonstrated ability to apply financial analysis principles to achieve superior budgetary results and effective allocation of internal/external resources 
  • Working knowledge of Systems, Applications, Processes (SAP), lean processes, and Six Sigma
  • Practical knowledge of practices, relationships, and supply chain issues presents when sourcing outside of North America
  • PC and keyboard/mouse skills; strong working knowledge of spreadsheet (including database features), word processing, presentation, and project software applications.
  • Ability to travel overnight away from corporate offices, including internationally, up to 30 percent of time
