Job Purpose 

The purpose of the Programs Director position is to have a passionate and collaborative leader who will undertake a variety of administrative and program management tasks to help excel LAUP’s mission and vision forward. This person will help in developing and organizing crucial programs and activities as well as carry out important operational duties. To be an excellent program director, this person must be reliable, responsive, collaborative, motovated, organized,detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to delegate when necessary. This individual must also be comfortable working with diverse teams. This position will also act as staff support for the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                                                          

  • Along with Executive Director and Board create and develop innovative programs
  • Facilitate all programs including building program curriculum, recruiting and coordinating instructors and volunteers, and oversee the progress of all programs
  • Collect, maintain, and report data to keep track of the progress of all programs.
  • Assist in identifying different funding sources such as grants, sponsorships, etc. and ensure that each program is meeting grant requirements
  • Assist in creating and maintaining program budget reports.
  • Office support when necessary (translations, answering of phones, etc.)
  • Lead Recruitment outreach efforts with various community partners such as schools, churches, employees, etc. to maintain and increase program participants
  • Available to work nights and weekends for LAUP programs and events
  • Develop a strong network of partners within the community to help sustain, enhance and grow LAUP’s programs and services
  • Develop communication strategies that promote the participation and success of each program.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Ability to work independently, be organized, multi-task with attention to detail and accuracy, and adapt to changes.
  • Experience with coordinating meetings, small conferences and other general office procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to present self in a courteous, tactful, and professional manner.
  • Considerate, attentive, and punctual.
  • Helpful and motivated.

Compensation                                                                                                                                                                Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 per year Priority Health Insurance 2 Weeks’ Vacation
