Hope College has announced an ambitious $1 Billion vision called Hope Forward and seeks to innovate and strengthen philanthropy engagement of alumni, friends and stakeholders to a “Best In Class” program. To further grow the success of the Philanthropy and Engagement Division, we seek one or two new Senior Philanthropic Advisors to complete the Philanthropy Team leadership. This is an unprecedented time for Hope College and a unique opportunity to join a talented development team that is writing the book on personalized and meaningful philanthropy.

Description
The Senior Philanthropic Advisor (SPA) serves as the Chief Development Officer for initiatives, projects or entire divisions at Hope College. The position is considered a leadership position and has assigned direct fundraising responsibilities. The SPA reports to the Associate Vice President (AVP) in the Division of Philanthropy and Engagement.

Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Management
In close collaboration with and support of the Dean or other assigned college leadership, and in partnership with the AVP and Campaign Director, establish fundraising priorities and set annual and campaign goals for the Division. Support of assigned leadership also includes but is not limited to:
- Meet regularly to help prioritize and manage the involvement of leadership stakeholders and appropriate divisional leadership/faculty with prospects and donors.
- Assist in the on-going development of divisional campaign priorities in close collaboration with the Campaign Director.
- Serve as the liaison to prioritize and coordinate the active participation of assigned area leadership in fundraising and campaign related activities to ensure the most robust donor engagement possible.
- Ensure leadership stakeholders are provided with and have input in the creation of the necessary donor, prospect and research support materials, including the creation of proposals and related development materials/correspondence.
- Serve as the lead philanthropy and engagement liaison for assigned areas, projects and divisions. The SPA will advocate for the fundraising priorities and Division resources needed for the areas assigned maintaining a laser-like focus on the goals and objectives of the Philanthropy and Engagement Division as well as Hope College.
- Collaborate with the AVP and fundraising team members on institutionally prioritized multi-disciplinary fundraising needs and initiatives.
- Seek out and maintain a fluency with the academic and programmatic funding priorities in order to effectively align priority needs with potential sources of external support. The SPA is expected to establish solid working relationships with department chairs, directors, administrative units and faculty/students (as needed) so Hope College can deliver a joyful donor experience and meet the needs of our internal stakeholders.
- Actively solicit major gifts and support as outlined in SPA metrics and consistent with a thoughtful “Personal and Meaningful” donor engagement strategy.
- Personally conduct and act in a manner that supports and promotes diversity, equity and inclusive excellence.

Qualifications:

- BA or MA at an accredited College or University, Masters degree preferred
- Seasoned fund-raising professional with experience working in higher education preferred
- Experience in large or complex systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Docs and Sheets, CRM/Networked Information Systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred, but Slate or Sales Force are also acceptable)
