Job Overview 

We are currently looking for a Supply Chain Purchasing Specialist to join our Indirect Purchasing Team in Holland, MI.


As a Supply Chain Purchasing Specialist, you will:



Execute supply chain strategy. Identify supplier quality, delivery, and service issues. Monitor supplier corrective action and coordinate supplier development. Identify and eliminate waste from supply chain. 


Some of the responsibilities of a Purchasing Specialist will include:


  • Analyzes supplier performance, using Haworth systems, to identify supplier issues, initiate corrective action, and track performance.
  • Manage supplier base and supply chain to assure lead time, quality, and on-time complete delivery meet Haworth objectives.
  • Leads Supplier Quality Task Teams (SQTT) to drive supplier development. 
  • Works closely with Commodity Material Planners, Production Planners, end-users, and suppliers to reduce lead-time and Haworth inventory investment. 
  • May develop sources of supply, including competitive bidding, supplier selection, and negotiating contract terms and conditions for medium-risk commodities, to ensure Supply Chain Performance.

Do you have these required qualifications?


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or similar.
  • Ability to lifts parts, materials, and/or products weighing up to 50 pounds to perform supplier profile analysis.
  • Ability to transport self for interplant and supplier visits.
  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship. 
  • Ability to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.

Do you have these preferred qualifications?


  • Two years related business experience.
  • Experience working in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience analyzing data and using Statistical Process Control methodology.

Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:


  • Effective written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong relationship management, interpersonal, and team-building skills required.
  • Skilled utilizing spreadsheet software applications.
  • Ability to travel overnight away from corporate offices, up to 10 percent of time.
