Carnival Midway Opening for Tulip Time on April 30, 2021

Holland, MI – Skerbeck Entertainment Group is preparing to open the carnival midway at the Tulip Time Festival – with significant reduction in capacity – beginning April 30, 2021 at the Civic Center Parking Lot in downtown Holland. After being shut down in 2020 due to the global pandemic, Skerbeck Entertainment Group is opening in using a deliberate, responsible approach.

The current MDHHS Emergency Order allows for Outdoor Gatherings with restrictions; therefore, aspects of the carnival midway have been re-examined, with new policies following guidance from health experts and government agencies.

In addition to limits on attendance and controlled guest density, new procedures will be in place for carnival entry, attractions, and dining.

Online Early Purchasing for Ride Wristbands

To promote physical distancing, capacity at the midway will be limited and attractions spaced further apart. A limited number of daily ride wristbands will be available for sale online, prior to the event for purchase. Guests purchasing ahead of time will be able to ensure their admission given limited capacity and skip the queue line at the midway entrance.

Health and Safety Procedures

New measures include:

• Appropriate Face Coverings – Guests and staff will be required to wear an appropriate face covering. They must be worn over the nose and mouth at all times, except when eating and drinking in the designated dining area. Individuals unwilling to comply with the face covering requirement will be asked to leave the carnival midway area.

• Physical Distancing and Capacity Measures – Ground markings will be placed to identify proper physical distancing throughout the midway, including attraction queues. Physical barriers will be in placed in select locations where maintaining a proper physical distance from others may be difficult.

• Cleanliness – High-traffic and dining areas will receive increased cleaning. Guests will be encouraged to frequently use hand sanitizer available throughout the midway.

Dining Procedures

Food concession service will be different at this year’s festival. Designated dining areas will be established inside the carnival midway area as well as at the walk-up concession area on 8th Street. These areas will be limited in capacity and egress based on available seating in order to keep people socially distanced and to prevent mingling of groups of people while eating. Skerbeck food concessions will utilize mobile technology to allow for optional contactless ways to view menu items, order food, and pay using credit or debit cards.
