WHAT IS THE MCACA MINI-GRANT PROGRAM?

The Minigrant program is a grants-giving partnership funded by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) and administered by agencies in each region of the state.

Minigrants provide up to $4,000 for locally developed, high quality arts and cultural projects, which are special opportunities to address local arts and cultural needs and increase public access to arts and culture. Minigrants support a broad range of artistic expression from all cultures through projects that preserve, produce, or present traditional or contemporary arts and culture.

Professional Development Minigrants provide up to $1,500 to assist nonprofit organizations and arts professional acquire services or skills to strengthen the administrative infrastructure of the organization. 

Arts Equipment Grants offering Michigan K-12 schools grants of up to $1,500 to pay for arts equipment (including repairs of arts equipment) or supplies being used within the classroom/school setting. Michigan K-12 teachers in any arts discipline may apply for the grant, including: creative writing, dance, film/video, music, visual arts, and theatre. Grants are awarded on a reimbursement basis. Arts Equipment requests can be made through June 30, 2021.

Bus Grants offers grants of up to $500 to Michigan K-12 schools for the transportation cost of an arts or culture related field trip. Bus requests can be made through June 30, 2021.

The system is now open. The deadline to apply for round 2 January 15, 2021. The projects must be scheduled between March 1, 2021 and September 29, 2021. 


WHO CAN APPLY?

Non-profit organizations, located in the state of Michigan, including (but not limited to) service organizations, arts organizations, parks and recreational organizations, churches, professional associations, public and nonpublic schools, cities, townships and villages may apply. Other grants and workshops are available through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
