Holland Symphony Orchestra announces cancellation of August 8, 2020 Community Concert at Kollen Park.
Holland Symphony regrets to announce the cancellation of its Saturday, August 8, 2020 Community Concert. This free concert usually draws over 1000 people to Kollen Park. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on large gatherings, it is neither safe nor responsible for HSO to hold this event. HSO is saddened to cancel this wonderful community event, but our greatest concern is for the health and well-being of our musicians, staff, audience, and Holland community.
HSO will work to re-schedule this concert for August, 2021, hoping that we will be able to celebrate coming together again! This concert, a Mariachi Celebration, will feature “Mariachi Tesoro de Rebecca Gonzales.” This group is from the Los Angeles area. Selections will include works for the orchestra alone, featuring “Music of the Americas,” and with Tesoro as well as some selections for Mariachi group Tesoro alone. HSO will be delighted to share the stage with Grammy award winning artist Rebecca Gonzales and her group. Holland Symphony received a grant from the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council which partially funded the performance of the Mariachi group. The MACC is willing to consider funding next year’s performance as well.
