MLK Day Celebration at the Holland Museum

January 4, 2022: Join the Holland Museum for our annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr on Monday, January 17 from 10:00-5:00 pm.

“We are excited to host this important annual celebration for the community again this year,” says Ricki Levine, Executive Director of the Holland Museum.

During this free day, enjoy crafts in the Smithsonian Spark!Lab in addition to our winter-themed STEAM activities. Watch and listen to Innocademy students recite MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech and recordings from the National Civil Rights Museum. Wander the galleries with a scavenger hunt looking for interesting facts about inventors of color. Martin Luther King, Jr. scavenger hunt participants will be entered to win the children’s book, My Brother Martin by Christine King Farris.

Starting at 11:00 am, there will be a children’s book read aloud by one of our “celebrity” readers to visitors each hour ending at 4:00 pm.

Visitors will receive activity pages and resources to take home to extend Dr. King’s lessons into their daily lives, gallery scavenger hunt, and activity packets to take home.

We are grateful to Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital and Warner Norcross + Judd for their support to make this day free and accessible.

For the safety of all, masks are required for all visitors.

Check out the Holland Museum’s website for more upcoming programming.
