Resilience to Host Virtual Conference on Violence Prevention

Holland, Mich. - Over the last year, communities everywhere confronted unspeakable hardships and there were marked increases in both the frequency and severity of violence at home. Domestic violence was labelled "the pandemic within the pandemic." At Resilience, the demand for services was overwhelming. Emergency shelter requests reached the highest numbers we've seen since first opening our doors nearly 45 years ago. The need for domestic and sexual violence prevention is more crucial than ever.

Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence is proud to host our first-ever Partners in Prevention Virtual Conference in collaboration with regional and statewide partners. The conference will showcase best practices in engaging men as allies in violence prevention and fostering student leadership in preventing dating violence and sexual assault; and will explore avenues for legislative advocacy and systems change, highlighting the work of Michigan’s tribal programs.

The Partners in Prevention 2021 Conference will feature West Michigan’s efforts to end domestic and sexual violence through prevention, community engagement, and systems change. This three-day virtual conference will take place October 7th, 14th, and 21stduring Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Participants are invited to join one, two, or all three days of the conference.

The conference is $25 per day per person. This course is approved by the NASW-Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative Approval #082521-01 for 16.5CE Hours. Continuing education is available for $10 per day. All conference materials will be available to registered conference attendees. Questions should be directed
