Preschool Associate Teacher
Job Summary:
Hamilton Community Schools is seeking an individual to serve as Hawkeye Preschool Associate Teacher.
Location: Sandyview Learning Center
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Reports To:
- Preschool Lead Teacher, and
- Preschool and Before & After School Coordinator
Hours: 14 hours per week (additional hours as needed for professional development and meetings)
- Monday-Thursday 8:45 AM - 12:15 AM
Hourly Rate: According to Class II of the Support Staff scale ($16.32/hour base)
Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year
Job Description:
- Work with the Lead Teacher in planning, documenting, and implementing daily
schedules and lessons - Supervise and support children
- Develop positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Facilitate/lead small group learning activities
- Lead and actively participate in large group learning activities
- Support students in the preschool classroom who require additional support
- Work with the Lead Teacher on keeping consistent, up-to-date documentation according to the preschool curriculum and standards for early childhood.
- Duties, as assigned by the Lead Teacher and Preschool and Before & After School Coordinator
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred (or willingness to be trained) or a higher education degree in early childhood education or child development
- First Aid/CPR certification will be required upon employment
- Must maintain a positive and professional attitude
- Experience working with children preferred
- Have a caring, patient, flexible demeanor
- Regular, predictable attendance
- Must have strong communication skills
- Willing to work outside in various weather conditions
- Must receive background check, and additional onboarding training requirements as required by childcare licensing.
