Week 1Demystifying AI: From Hype to Reality
Separate AI fact from fiction as we explore what artificial intelligence actually is—and isn't. You'll gain a clear understanding of different AI technologies and their real-world capabilities, then immediately apply that knowledge to identify high-value opportunities within your organization. Through proven frameworks, you'll learn to prioritize AI initiatives and build compelling business cases that resonate with stakeholders.
Week 2Data Analysis for AI Success
Quality data is the fuel that powers effective AI—learn how to assess and improve your organization's data readiness. We'll navigate the essential landscape of privacy regulations, compliance requirements, and data governance that responsible AI deployment demands. You'll discover the common data pitfalls that derail AI initiatives and how to avoid them.
Week 3Generative AI in Practice
Cut through the ChatGPT hype to understand what generative AI and large language models can actually do for your organization. You'll learn to evaluate different tools, write effective prompts, and understand the real risks around accuracy, bias, and security. We'll explore practical use cases from document generation to customer service while establishing appropriate safeguards.
Week 4Leading the Change
Technology is often the easy part—people are where AI initiatives succeed or fail. This session focuses on the human side of AI adoption: building leadership buy-in, understanding resistance, and bringing your workforce along on the journey. You'll develop communication strategies that address fears while highlighting opportunities, and create skills development plans that prepare your team for an AI-enhanced future.
Week 5Responsible AI: Governance, Ethics, and Risk
Build the governance framework that enables responsible AI innovation while managing risks effectively. You'll develop policies for AI deployment and vendor management while learning to assess and mitigate risks around security, privacy, and operational disruption. We'll explore practical frameworks for identifying bias, ensuring transparency, and building stakeholder trust.
About Your Instructor
Andy Bass
Founder, InnovateAI
Andy Bass is a West Michigan entrepreneur with four decades of engineering, architecture, and startup execution, now centered on applied AI for business. He runs NetNerd Ventures, delivering AI consulting, integration, and system design for organizations adopting large-language-model workflows and automation. He also leads InnovateAI, a regional program that moves organizations from basic AI awareness to operational deployment through training, assessments and roadmapping. His background includes co-founding Conpoto, a national provider of community-currency programs, and co-founding LeanLogistics, where he led teams developing cloud transportation systems used at Fortune 500 scale. He also founded the Grand Rapids Free-Net, the first ISP in West Michigan in the early 90's. Andy is a graduate of Calvin University with a degree in Computer Science.
