CITY ON A HILL HEALTH CLINIC EARNS 2026 NAFC GOLD RATING FOR SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

National Recognition Reinforces That Free Healthcare Should Never Mean Lower Standards of Care

ZEELAND, Mich. (June 29, 2026) — City on a Hill Health Clinic is proud to announce that it has earned the 2026 Gold Rating from the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) Quality Standards Program, marking the sixth consecutive year the clinic has received this prestigious national recognition.

The NAFC Gold Rating recognizes free and charitable clinics that demonstrate excellence through established policies and procedures in patient care, clinic operations, risk management, credentialing, and organizational leadership.

For City on a Hill Health Clinic, this recognition represents more than an award—it reflects a deeply held belief that free healthcare should never mean lower standards of care.

"Every patient deserves dignity, compassion, and excellence," said Christine Plummer, Clinic Director. "Regardless of a person's insurance status or ability to pay, they deserve quality healthcare. Receiving the NAFC Gold Rating for the sixth consecutive year reaffirms our commitment to providing nationally recognized care to every patient who walks through our doors."

Since opening in 2006, City on a Hill Health Clinic has worked to remove financial barriers to healthcare while maintaining the highest standards of quality. The clinic provides free primary medical care, mental health services, health education, care navigation, and community referrals for uninsured adults throughout West Michigan.

In 2025, City on a Hill Health Clinic:

  • Provided more than 4,100 patient visits
  • Delivered 2,045 mental health counseling sessions
  • Welcomed 210 new patients
  • Received more than 3,180 volunteer hours
  • Connected patients with over $75,000 in specialty care and support services

These services are made possible through the generosity of volunteer physicians, nurses, counselors, interpreters, staff, donors, churches, foundations, businesses, and community partners who believe everyone deserves access to compassionate, high-quality healthcare.

As City on a Hill Health Clinic celebrates 20 Years of Hope & Healing in 2026, this sixth consecutive Gold Rating reinforces the clinic's unwavering commitment to excellence.

"This recognition belongs not only to our clinic, but to the entire community that supports it," Plummer added. "Every volunteer, donor, church, foundation, business, and community partner helps ensure that quality healthcare remains accessible to those who need it most. Together, we are proving that healthcare without financial barriers can also be healthcare without compromise."

City on a Hill Health Clinic welcomes partnerships with businesses, foundations, churches, civic organizations, and individuals who share the vision that quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone. Financial contributions, sponsorships, volunteer service, and in-kind donations directly support free healthcare for uninsured adults in our community.
