Job Description    

The Student Account Representative serves with a team of ten accountants including accounts receivable, accounts payable and our finance team. The Student Account Representative serves as the first point of contact for our students and families, providing excellent customer service for a welcoming and friendly environment. Additionally, the Student Account Representative is responsible for efficiently executing multiple front office duties while playing an important supportive role of the Business Services team.


Serve as receptionist for Business Services Staff

Receive and post payments to the appropriate accounts

Maintain a balanced cash drawer, reconciling funds twice daily

Maintain subsidiary ledger of certain payments

Verify outstanding balances on student accounts for acceptance of re-admits, special students and release of transcripts

Process payment plan information

Release petty cash when proper documentation is provided

Manage health insurance verification of students

Process wire transfer payments

Assist with mailings and emails

Assist with collection efforts

Accounting journal entries

Process scholarship payments

Process NSF and returned checks

Check Business Services email daily



Qualifications    

Associate Degree (or equivalent) preferred with at least three years experience in a similar customer service position, preferably higher education.

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse student, staff and business partner population. Must be personal, energetic and possess a strong desire to provide exceptional customer service.

Working accounting knowledge and mathematical skills.

Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite required.

Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively with many interruptions is essential.

Ability to plan and work independently and as a team member.

Willingness and ability to adapt to changing technologies and responsibilities.



Physical Demands    

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
