Controller

The Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s accounting and financial operations, as well as actively serving on the leadership team. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintains effective internal controls, and provides strategic financial guidance to senior management. The Controller plays a pivotal role in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will perform a combination of various administrative tasks. Your priority will always be accounting duties, however, it will be expected that you actively contribute to and participate in weekly team meetings.

Key duties & Responsibilities:

  • Payroll processing
  • Accounts payable/receivable
  • Business taxes, sales tax, and filing
  • Budgeting
  • Forecasting
  • Employee Benefits Administration–health insurance benefits, 401K, payroll
  • Identify cost-savings initiatives/negotiate lower rates on goods/services
  • Submit applications to MPIE for any newly hired employees
  • Month-end credit card reconciling
  • Recording donations
  • Bank runs/deposits
  • Track and tabulate total compensation numbers in grid
  • Track and report comp.’d goods to appropriate vendors
  • Facilitate employee deductions such as wage garnishments, FOC/child support; reimbursements, CE registration fees/lodging, license/certification renewals; workers compensation
  • Verify Square transactions and implement any pricing updates
  • Credit card reconciling
  • Reconciling bills against charges captured
  • Update Alle/Aspire tracking spreadsheet
  • Keep commission payroll spreadsheet up to date
  • Update goals/tracking spreadsheets for employees
  • Auditing check-out sheets for errors/discrepancies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, patients and external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Works well under pressure and does not waiver in working as a team
  • Comfortable asking for help when needed
  • Exercises sound decision making. Commitment to ethical conduct.

Experience:

  • At least 5–10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Economics.
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Finance preferred.

Certifications (preferred):

  • CPA, CMA, or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
  • BBA in finance

Skills:

  • Advanced understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance, regulatory requirements, and risk management.

Pay range:  $36,000-$100,000 annual salary depending on qualifications and experience

Expected hours:  20-40 hours per week
