Development Director
The Holland Area Arts Council seeks an exceptional and energetic development professional with a proven track record of significant accomplishments. The Development Director leads the Arts Council’s fundraising efforts in partnership with the Executive Director. Key responsibilities include expanding corporate and individual giving, preparing grant applications, managing donor relationships, coordinating annual campaigns and special events, securing major gifts, and supporting planned giving initiatives.
Position Details:
Job Type: Part-Time, Exempt, OR Contract. $50-$65/year (Pay commensurate with experience), performance incentive potential. Some evening and weekend obligations. Reports to: Board of Directors, works closely with Executive Director
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Development:
Build relationships with individual and corporate donors; solicit major and planned gifts; manage annual campaigns.
Corporate & Grant Development:
Develop corporate contributions program, research/write/manage grants, coordinate marketing materials, social media and engage businesses.
Special Events:
Coordinate event planning with staff, maximize sponsorship and revenue opportunities, and create new events for diverse audiences.
Membership:
Grow membership annually, streamline processes, run fund drives, and manage benefits/matching gifts.
Endowment & Planned Giving: Build an endowment committee, solicit planned gifts, and establish giving policies.
Qualifications
Proven success in fundraising across multiple streams (corporate, individual, grants, events, endowment)
Familiarity with fundraising platforms and marketing best-practices
Strong relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to collaborate with staff, Board, volunteers, and community partners
Computer proficiency and commitment to meeting financial goals
In short: this is a strategic fundraising leadership role responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability of the Arts Council through donor cultivation, grants, events, memberships, and planned giving.
