Position Title: Director of Student and Campus Safety

Reports to: Superintendent


Full-time position following the school schedule, does include summer responsibilities. Typical hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, evenings and weekends as needed.



Position Summary:

  • The Director of Student and Campus Safety provides strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of student and campus safety across the district. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs, policies, and procedures that ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Director works collaboratively with administrators, local law enforcement, emergency services, and community partners to promote physical safety, emergency preparedness, and a culture of care and prevention.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership and Planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive campus safety and security policies, procedures, and protocols, yearly updates to each schools                  Emergency Operations Plan.
  • Lead the district’s emergency preparedness planning, including drills, crisis management, and response coordination as well as leading the             Code Plus Teams district wide.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections of all school facilities, including security equipment.
  • Oversight of the Code Plus Teams.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations.

Student Safety and Wellbeing

  • Maintain a physical presence on school campuses, buildings, parking areas, playgrounds, hallways and restrooms during the school day and         assigned nighttime or weekend school events (dances, sporting events).
  • Establish and maintain a friendly, positive relationship with students and staff.
  • Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and staff to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in threat assessment and intervention teams to address student safety concerns, Behavioral Threat Assessment Representative for       Holland Christian Schools.
  • Support initiatives focused on mental health, bullying prevention, and student wellbeing.
  • District liaison with law enforcements, prosecutors, court officials, OK2SAY Student Safety Program, and The Blue Envelope.
  • Respond to medical emergencies at all schools when notified.
  • Assist administration with other investigations including, but not limited to, Title IX Policy.

Training and Communication

  • Provide ongoing safety training for staff, including emergency response, de-escalation, and crisis communication.
  • Communicate safety policies and updates clearly to students, staff, and families.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with law enforcement and first responders during safety-related incidents.
  • Maintains records of all incidents, investigations and security matters up to and including court appearances.

Operational Oversight

  • Supervise campus security personnel and manage safety-related contracts or services.
  • Oversee visitor management systems, access control, and surveillance programs.
  • Lead post-incident reviews and recommend improvements to procedures and infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Education Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in school safety, security, law enforcement, or emergency management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and crisis management experience.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s mission and values, fostering a Christ-centered approach to safety and care.
  • First Aid, CPR and AED training required.
