Inventory & Warehouse Coordinator
Summary
The Inventory & Warehouse Coordinator will support product procurement and the warehouse and inventory systems for all Food Programs. This position will work closely with the Food Access, Community Kitchen, Logistics and Food Rescue & Partnerships teams to ensure effective flow and sharing of food and supplies across the organization and with external partners. This position involves unloading food inventory from vehicles, sometimes using equipment such as a pallet jack or hi-lo and other times manually. This position moves and loads stock in various areas of the warehouse, often repositioning and moving inventory as needed to address the inventory needs of the retail front of the house area of Food Club, under the direction of Food Program leadership.
Responsibilities & Essential Duties
- Drive Food Rescue operations through the safe and efficient flow of food inventory from trucks into the warehouse as part of day-to-day operations for inventory management, warehousing and procurement.
- Coordinate daily with Food Access, Logistics and Food Rescue & Partnership teams for the collection, processing and distribution of food.
- Assist in day-to-day ordering and vendor coordination for Community Action House Food Access programs, as informed by the Food Club Manager's food procurement priorities, while the Senior Manager of Food Partnerships actively seeks, secures, and maintains strategic food partnerships and acquisition pathways, including reduced-price purchasing, donations, or food rescue.
- Contribute to the upkeep of inventory for dry storage, cooler, and freezer for Food Club, the Community Kitchen, and Lakeshore Food Rescue, including monitoring cooler temperatures to ensure food safety, and collaborating with program teams to track and maintain inventory while ensuring team responsibilities are met.
- Support inventory turnover and throughput, and organize food and supplies for efficient and effective distribution.
- Support the maintenance and organization of inventory systems and processes, leveraging technology and reporting capabilities.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and organized work area for volunteer and staff use, ensuring food safety standards are followed in all food storage areas, while the Food Club Manager provides strategic oversight of warehouse organization, safety, and process flow.
- Collaborate with the Food Club Manager and make recommendations on tasks related to processing and repackaging foods, and warehouse organization.
- Collaborate successfully with Food Club Team and make recommendations on sales, stocking, and merchandising and fulfilling inventory to meet the needs of Community Action House guests.
- Assist in maintaining recycling and compost systems for the Community Action House warehouse.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received
- Specific Direction: Receives detailed work instructions or guidance for performing repetitive tasks. Supervisor monitors progress and provides feedback or correction as needed to ensure that tasks are completed according to expectations.
Education & Experience
- 1+ years of relevant experience required
- High School Diploma required; or in place of a degree, equivalent years of experience
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain)
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain in onboarding
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred

- Experience using Google Workspace tools like Docs and Sheets is preferred.
