JOB SUMMARY:
The Hamilton Community School District is seeking individuals to serve the district in the role of MTSS Paraprofessional.  A paraprofessional providing Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) promotes continuous improvement in student learning by implementing timely interventions for students identified needing Tier II and Tier III interventions for small group instruction for students in grades K-4. This individual will initially be assigned to one of the elementary buildings currently needing this support.  As the school year progresses, there may be a need to re-assign to elementary buildings with greater MTSS needs based on regular evaluation of student performance data. 

Location:  Hamilton Elementary - 2 Positions

Reports to: Building Principal

Job Description:

Assist teachers with the individualized instruction and care of students. This will occur throughout the day, including within the classroom, during recess, during lunch, and in specials classes. This position will also provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for:

  • Assisting with individualized instruction in reading and math
  • Lead small groups of learners and provide written and verbal feedback
  • Assist with utilizing data (Acadience, EBLI, iReady, etc.) to make instructional decisions
  • Work within the paraprofessional team
  • Assist with assessing students with Acadience
  • Monitor recess, lunchroom, and before or after school activities
  • Manage students both in small and large groups
  • Other duties as assigned

Hours: Currently 28 hours/week, Monday through Friday, when school is in session.  The position schedule will follow the Hamilton Community Schools school calendar.   

 

Start Date: August 2025

 

Rate of Pay: $16.00 / hour (base) 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma
  • Ability to relate well with students, staff, and parents in a positive manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
  • Ability to follow written and oral communication
  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Ability to read and understand instructional materials presented to students
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all students, staff and school community
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district and BOE policies

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous work experience with elementary-age students, including students with special needs
  • Experience with Acadience and other phonics-based reading programs
  • EBLI and/or Fountas and Pinnell experience 
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Title I - Paraprofessional Qualifications
    • College degree; OR
    • Completed 60 college credit hours; OR
    • Achieve a passing score on one of the following MDE-approved formal state academic assessments:
      • MTTC Basic Skills
      • ETS -  460
      • WorkKeys - Minimum scores of Reading for Information (4); Applied Math (4); Writing (3)
      • SAT - at least 480 on evident-based reading and writing and 530 on math
      • ACT (between 1/1/1989 - 10/1/2017) - minimum scores of Reading (22); Combined English and Writing (22); Math (22)
      • MME (between 1/1/2007 -1/31/2015) - minimum scores of Reading (1108); Writing (1129); Math (1116)
