Job Description
The Assistant Manager will support the Owner in the oversight of the daily operations of Holland Cat Cove. The Assistant Manager will ensure that the business operates smoothly and efficiently while prioritizing the welfare of the cats and providing an exceptional experience for customers. This role requires a passion for animal welfare, comfort in dealing with the public and a strong background in customer service. With the oversight and support of the Owner, the associate will ensure that Holland Cat Cove is represented well and that every customer walks away with a positive experience.
Please note that while you will inevitably get a lot of time interacting with the cats, your main focus is client relations and creating a positive customer experience.
Job Requirements & Responsibilities
General
Come in 60-minutes before opening to ensure all volunteer activities are completed and the space is ready for customers
Oversee daily operations, including cat care and retail sales
Ensure all closing activities are completed prior to leaving
Customer Service
Check-in guests and explain cat lounge rules
Assist with phone reservations and scheduling
Accurately process payments for purchases (e.g. beverages, in-store merchandise, etc.)
Provide adoption forms to customers and explain the adoption process
Engage with customers and answer questions about the cats
Provide excellent service and promptly address any concerns.
Confidently manage difficult situations
Cat Care
Work with volunteers and other team members to ensure adherence to daily responsibilities, including cat care and cleaning / disinfecting procedures
Clean messes that cats leave behind (e.g. feces, litter residue, urine, vomit, etc.)
Help to ensure all cats are properly socialized, have appropriate playtime and the environment is stress-free and enriching.
Mitigate cat fights as needed
Other
Communicate with Harbor Humane Society contacts as needed
Participate in company promotional events (e.g. cat yoga)
Keep all areas tidy & organized
Restock supplies
Notify owner of any items needing purchase or restocking
Ensure a friendly and welcoming environment for both humans and cats
Stay on-task throughout the day despite having ~15 onsite cats.
Candidate Qualifications:
Associates degree or equivalent work experience
The physical ability to kneel, bend and lift up to 30-pounds (e.g. cleaning, stocking, lifting bags of cat litter, etc.)
Candidate Skills:
Excellent communication & customer service skills
Strong reasoning skills to handle a variety of situations
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude
Trustworthy & honest
Love for animals
Attention to detail and cleanliness.
Basic knowledge of cat behavior and care.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Punctual and dependable and timely
Other:
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Must be comfortable working alone, including opening & closing
