
Part-Time Receptionist (Morning)
We are currently looking for a part-time receptionist to work 5:30am-9:00am Monday through Friday at Gentex Discovery Preschool in Zeeland!
The ODC Network is a nonprofit organization focused on outdoor education and conservation throughout West Michigan. ODC Early Childhood Network operates a number of nature-based preschools and childcare facilities in Allegan and Ottawa County. ODC Early Childhood Network provides early childhood learning opportunities for children aged 0-5, building social-emotional and academic skills within a unique natural environment with an emphasis on nature-based inquiry and outdoor exploration.

Purpose: The Receptionist will work closely with the Office Coordinator, VP of Early Childhood Administration, Site Director, and other ODC Early Childhood Network staff to provide daily business and administrative support including answering phones, organizing and coordinating meal and snack menus, supporting office functions, and potentially assisting in classrooms as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Answer phone calls, emails, and messages from parents and the general public
- Organize daily meal and snack menus and help prepare food for classes
- Manage meal and snack orders, inventory and deliveries
- Support general office functions and duties as assigned by the supervisor or site team
- Serve as a substitute or assist in classrooms as needed
- Work effectively with students, staff and parents
- Treats all people fairly and with dignity and respect. Maintains confidentiality regarding students and staff
- Assist the Gentex Discovery Preschool Team with other tasks/projects as assigned; providing administrative support for a variety of projects
Supervision/Evaluation:
Supervision and evaluation will be provided by the VP of Early Childhood Administration. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualification Requirements:

Education/Experience:
- Associate’s degree in business, administration, communications or related field, or experience in a similar position preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated skills/experience in creating/maintaining a friendly, helpful, safe and efficient reception/office area.
- Current certification in First Aid/CPR desired, training provided if needed
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, adapt to change, and develop plans and timelines with follow through to completion
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Strong ability to work both collaboratively and independently, strong interpersonal skills in team setting
- Knowledge of Google, MS Office, databases, and information systems
- Ability to relate to children age birth to five, families, and community members
- Ability to be self-directive in prioritizing office work
- Interest in nature and being outdoors in all types of weather
- Must pass complete childcare background check, including fingerprinting
- Bilingual English/Spanish speakers encouraged to apply
Physical Demands:
This position requires the following physical activities: pushing, pulling, climbing, walking, standing, squatting, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, lifting, bending, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work/teaching is performed indoors and outdoors. Additionally, this position requires occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time.
Equipment Operated:
Must be proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Office and Google applications, and the operation of general office equipment.
