Job Description

  • As part of the campus services team, this position is responsible for campus deliveries, event set ups, furniture moving and miscellaneous physical plant work such as furniture installation.
  • Assist with receiving operation and warehousing for incoming supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for storage and inventory of a large variety of supplies and equipment. Mark supplies and equipment to comply with security and safety requirements.
  • Distribute supplies and equipment in response to work orders and delivery requests submitted by a wide variety of users throughout the college. Ensure that deliveries and special set ups are accomplished in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an inventory of stock levels of supplies and equipment and advise supervisor when resupply is necessary.
  • Deliver mail twice daily to and from the U.S. Post Office and the campus mail room.
  • Maintain serviceability of equipment by making repairs or coordinating repair with the maintenance supervisor.
  • Operate vehicles assigned to accomplish the above tasks.
  • Train and supervise student help working on a flexible schedule to assist in the accomplishment of the above tasks.
  • Weekend work may be required at times.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High School graduate.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate equipment such as fork lifts, large box trucks and lifts.
  • Capable of physically handling heavy loads of material and equipment.
  • Must be capable of handling stressful deadline situations and dealing diplomatically with people.
  • Ability to plan and organize work based on work orders and delivery requisitions. Must be flexible to accommodate change in priorities.
  • Ability to train and supervise student workers.
  • Ability to plan for, order, store, and distribute supplies and equipment.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License
  • Flexible and able to work with a diverse group of people
  • Use computer systems to document work performed
  • Ability to work with others and carry out tasks without direct supervision
  • Ability to adjust to changes in assigned tasks


Physical Demands

This position requires remaining in a sitting or position for frequent periods of time; sometimes includes crouching, bending, and having to work in confined spaces. This position often works in non-climate controlled spaces. Occasionally involves moving and lifting items over 25 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities. In the case of temporary or permanent condition(s) that require(s) accommodation(s), reasonable accommodation(s) may be requested.
