Job Description    

The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Upward Bound is a pre-college program for students in grades 9-12. Academic courses and advising, career internships, and social/cultural activities are provided to develop and enrich the skills of the Upward Bound student.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Teach 10 – 20 hours per week.

Develop pre/post tests and class objectives and syllabus.

Plan, develop, and implement the class curriculum and weekly turn-in lesson plans.

Complete midterm and final evaluations on each student.

Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents.

Ability to demonstrate mature judgment and moral and ethical behavior

Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.

Regularly communicate student progress.

Punctuality and the ability to meet deadlines are essential functions of this job.

Participate in orientation and staff meetings that will begin as early as June 16, 2025


Summer session dates are June 16 to July 24, 2025.


 

Qualifications

Secondary Education Teaching Certificate for academic classes preferred

One (1) year or more experience teaching curriculum relating to open position preferred

Experience working with diverse populations, specifically low-income and potential first-generation college students preferred

Willingness and availability to participate in pre-planning meetings

Relevant technology skills and device for virtual and/or in person instruction


Physical Demands    

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves lifting over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities with students. In the case of temporary or permanent condition(s) that require(s) accommodation(s), reasonable accommodation(s) may be requested.
