Supported Independent Living (SIL) Supervisor

MOKA is seeking a Supported Independent Living (SIL) Supervisor to manage two Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes for people with developmental disabilities in the Holland/Zeeland area. Ensures the implementation of the goals outlined in people’s Individual Plans of Service, and oversees the educational, recreational, and social activities of the people living in those homes.

Essential Functions: Including the following, other duties may be assigned.

Ensures that those served receive individualized active treatment. Oversees the implementation of the goals written in people’s Individual Plans of Service. Actively advocates for goals and strategies that meet people’s needs.

Responsible for selection, supervision, and performance management of direct reports and for the implementation of personnel policies and procedures in all assigned homes. Provides for succession planning, professional growth, relevant continuing training, and development of the teams.

Oversees general management of the homes including physical plant aspects such as cleanliness, health and safety and access to needed maintenance on the property.

Ensures accuracy of staffing ratios in the homes, including on-call coverage.

Ensures accuracy of Service Activity Logs and other documentation to monitor quality of services and maximize revenue.

Helps people strengthen skills for improved level of independence to reduce reliance on staff support when appropriate.

Helps advocate for people to ensure that their essential living expenses are addressed timely.

Helps people gain and maintain access to needed medical care and other services.

Advocates for people served in areas such as community involvement, family interactions and general well-being.

Participates in a variety of meetings as needed and assigned, collects and shares information and ideas.

Investigates and reports all incidents, including abuse and neglect, according to applicable policy; takes corrective action.

Helps people maintain access to community locations, including coordinating or directly providing transportation.

Makes expenditure decisions as appropriate for the programs within areas of responsibility and authority.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability typically required to perform the essential functions.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED and at least two years’ experience in a similar human service environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Communication Skills

Ability to communicate effectively with others in person, by telephone or videoconference, and in written form as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Ability to interpret a variety of information in written and verbal form.

Computer Skills

Proficiency with all basic business applications, such as, spreadsheets, presentation software, word processing, calendars, email, videoconferencing, and internet.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

A valid driver’s license

Other Qualifications

Work well both independently and cooperatively as part of a team. Ability to respond to calls on a 24-hour basis while on-call.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. The work will also include doing residential support duties which has the following physical demands: Exerting 50-120 pounds of force occasionally, (when lifting a person served in cooperation with at least one other employee), or more than 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10-20 pounds of force routinely to move objects or assist people served.

Work Environment

The work normally occurs in an indoor residential or office environment. Includes regular travel between assigned homes and occasional travel to other MOKA sites and external locations, access to reliable transportation during the workday is required.
