Position Summary:

The Welding Engineering Manager plays a critical role in the success of our team and our ability to exceed customer expectations. This position is responsible for developing innovative welding solutions, leading and growing the Welding Engineering team, and driving continuous improvement through effective tools, processes, and leadership. The Welding Engineering Manager collaborates cross-functionally and supports customers from proposal through installation and beyond. Key responsibilities include providing technical welding expertise, managing resources, mentoring and training team members, setting clear goals, monitoring progress, and evaluating performance to ensure individual and team success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support long-term growth

Lead and manage the Welding Engineering team through hands-on leadership, coaching, and mentorship

Serve as a working manager, directly managing key projects and supporting team success

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment and successful project execution

Plan, organize, and improve internal processes for efficiency and scalability

Serve as technical expert, guiding team in identifying risks early and developing proactive solutions

Attend project kickoffs, assign projects, and schedule resources

Provide conceptual input and budgetary guidance to support the quoting process in developing winning solutions for customers

Support project team with customer service, runoffs, planning, and status reporting

Monitor project budgets and ensure delivery within or under quoted costs

Assess and manage current and future staffing needs within the department

Lead team meetings to communicate priorities, resource planning, and company updates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering with 10+ years of experience in welding automation is preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in managing teams
  • Experienced in design and implementation of controls systems
  • General knowledge of machine control practices (RIA, ANSI, NFPA 79, UL508)
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives with varying priorities
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude with focus on safety and quality
  • Travel minimum 20% may be required domestically and internationally
