About

When a student-athlete, child, or family needs help navigating mental well-being, timing is everything. TEAM BE BETTER; provides no-cost screenings, personalized care plans, mental health education, and expedited referrals. We connect families, providers, coaches and teachers for effective wrap-around care. We help clients learn about symptoms vs. disorders and what to look for in a practice. Together, we create a way forward, especially when families don’t know where to turn or the system isn’t working fast enough. 

TEAM BE BETTER; was created in 2021 by Jill and Steve Miskelley, whose son Ian bravely navigated mental illness. His journey highlighted the need for a model that includes Triage, Education, and Advocacy that we Maintain for life. Generous community support funds TEAM BE BETTER; intervention hours that can change and save lives.

  • Consultations are offered in a hybrid format, online and at our private office at 386 Garden Avenue in Holland
  • Since launching in 2021, TEAM BE BETTER; has served over 300 West Michigan families and led nearly 2,000 consultation sessions with individuals and families navigating mental wellness
  • TEAM BE BETTER; is developing a partner network of mental health professionals who are aligned with our family-centered care model 
  • We serve individuals, families, athletic teams, and schools 
  • TEAM BE BETTER; hosts three annual fundraising events - a spring gala, a golf outing, and a fall swim invitational meet
