The Holland Museum is pleased to announce that it has been awarded five grants totaling $39,450
from the State of Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC). The grant was one of 828 applications
to compete for MACC fiscal year 2025 funding.
Organizations receiving a MACC grant award are required to match those funds with other public
and private dollars and the MACC peer review process allows each grant application to be
competitively considered by a panel of in-state and out-of-state arts and culture professionals. This
ensures the taxpayers, who support this project through legislative appropriations, and all other
visitors or residents in Michigan will have access to the highest quality arts and cultural
experiences.
The Holland Museum received funds in five areas: Operational Support, Facility Improvement,
Professional Development Support, Transportation, and Arts in Education. The museum plans to
upgrade their point-of-sale management software and conduct staff training to improve the visitor
experience, launch a new Living Archive Project initiative for the History gallery focused on sharing a
more comprehensive Indigenous story, make much-needed repairs to the Dutch gallery, bolster the
current fund that provides bussing and admission subsidies to local schools, and create a new
curriculum-based traveling History-in-a-Box focused on immigration stories.
Holland Museum Executive Director Michelle Stempien said, “The Holland Museum is honored and
excited to again receive grant funding from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council. We are pleased
that MACC recognizes the important work that the Holland Museum does every day to engage our
community through our programs, exhibits, and collection.
A complete list of grant awards around the state is available by contacting MACC at (517) 241-4011,

The Holland Museum’s mission is Preserving Our Past, Imagining Our Future. The Holland
Museum is located at the corner of 10th Street and River Avenue, across from Centennial Park at
31 West 10th Street.
