Holland Museum Presents "Waves of Pride: The Impact of Out On The Lakeshore"
New Cultural Lens Exhibit Explores the History and Advocacy of the Local LGBTQ+ Community
HOLLAND, MI – 2.22.25– The Holland Museum is proud to announce its upcoming Cultural Lens exhibition, "Waves of Pride: The Impact of Out On The Lakeshore," opening on February 28, 2025. This exhibit, sponsored by Globe Design & Vision, delves into the rich history of the local LGBTQ+ community and the pivotal role of Out On The Lakeshore, tracing its evolution from grassroots advocacy to a vital hub for support, activism, and empowerment.
Through personal narratives, archival materials, and interactive displays, visitors will gain insight into the struggles, triumphs, and ongoing efforts to foster a more inclusive community. The exhibit highlights key moments, local leaders, and significant events that have shaped the journey toward equality, visibility, and acceptance in the region.
“This exhibit is an opportunity to celebrate the resilience and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community in Holland,” said Michelle Stempien, Executive Director of the Holland Museum. “We hope it sparks meaningful conversations and deepens understanding of this important piece of our diverse community.”
"Waves of Pride" will be on display through June 30th and will be accompanied by special programming.
The Cultural Lens Series is an ongoing series of exhibits, talks, performances, family programs, and panel discussions that further support the museum’s mission to welcome everyone and their stories. Cultural Lens is sponsored by the MillerKnoll Foundation and Corewell Health.
