Kids’ Food Basket to Host Final Kids Activities of the Summer at the Holland Farmers Market

Holland, MI – Kids’ Food Basket will host the final Kids Activities of the summer at the Holland Farmers Market this Wednesday, August 16! The Market Kids Activities are free to attend and begin with Market Story Time hosted by the Herrick District Library at 9:30 am, followed by the Kids’ Food Basket activity from 10:00 am. – 11:30 am. The Kids Activities are proudly sponsored by Corewell Health’s Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital.

This Wednesday at the Kids Activities, the team from Kids’ Food Basket will host “The Buzz about Bees” to teach children about pollination and the importance of bees in our food system. Children will have an opportunity to use bee robots to practice visiting flowers to see how pollination works up close! Kids will also have the chance to taste honey produced by the Kids’ Food Basket bees from their own hives.

Kids' Food Basket is a West Michigan Non-Profit organization that delivers 10,000 healthy and balanced evening meals to K-5 elementary students in Ottawa, Allegan, Muskegon, and Kent counties. They also own and operate two 10-acre farms where they grow thousands of pounds of healthy vegetables for our communities. Working collaboratively to meet the needs of every child and family they serve, they aim to pursue a hunger-free West Michigan in a way that promotes the experiences and passion of the local community.

The Holland Farmers Market Kids Activities are free to attend, but a parent or guardian must remain onsite the entire time to supervise their children. Activities take place in the northwest parking lot outside of the Holland Civic Center Place (150 West 8th Street).
