[HOLLAND, MI - February 13, 2024] - Tulip Time, in partnership with Velo Kids, Cultureworks, and the Holland Area Arts Council, announces Pedals in the Park, a bicycle event, as part of its' 2024 theme, Bikes and Blooms.

"Pedals in the Park is a family event for locals and guests alike," said Lorma Freestone, the event coordinator. "It will be a great way to involve the community and celebrate Bikes and Blooms in one of our city's most scenic parks."

Pedals in the Park will held on the first Saturday of Tulip Time; Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 1:00 pm EST to 3:00 pm EST at Kollen Park in Holland.

Pedals in the Park will include family-friendly, bicycle-based activities like bike and helmet decorating, complete with a "bicycle fashion" runway, a photo booth, and a fun design competition. Awards will be given for "Most Creative," "Most Outrageous," and " Most Representative of Tulip Time." The design competition will be judged by Tulip Time's special guest judge Maranda. The bike decorating station will be provided by Holland Area Arts Council, the runway will be provided by VeloKids, and the Photo Booth will be provided by Cultureworks.

Additional activities include a fiery sculpture welding demonstration by Holland native, Kathy Kreager, an obstacle course for young riders, a riding loop for older children and adults, an ice cream truck, prizes, and a live DJ.

Velo Kids will provide the obstacle course and start the Loop ride, as well as provide a bike safety tent. Helmets are required for all activities that involve mounting or riding a bicycle.

Sign-in begins at 1:00 pm EST. Pre-registration at TulipTime.com is encouraged. The Dutch Dance performance and Ride the Loop begins at 2:00 pm EST. Winners of the decorating contest will be announced at 2:30 pm EST.

Bikes and Blooms is Tulip Time's theme for the 2024 festival, chosen to celebrate 95 years of Tulip Time in Holland. Blooms represent the sea of tulips that pop up around Holland every spring and bicycles connect the city of Holland's emerging bicycle culture to the bicycle culture that's flourished in the Netherlands for over half a century. Tulip Time is the world's oldest Tulip festival.
