Tulip Time Brings a Fun New Sinterklaas Celebration to Holland!
Tulip Time is excited to invite families to a fresh and fun Sinterklaas celebration that will turn the heart of the city into a magical holiday adventure! This beloved Dutch tradition is back and better for 2024, happening on Friday, December 6 (5-8 PM) and Saturday, December 7 (10 AM-1 PM).
This year, the celebration will have five festive stops around downtown, where kids can collect treats and stamps in special passports. Families will start their adventure at the Tulip Time office and then explore themed spots like Sperry Slopes, where Dutch-costumed skiers will greet them with popcorn. At the police station, kids can visit Polar Place, where community police officers and friendly polar bears will welcome them.
Next, the fun continues at Carolyn's Candy Land, featuring a magical lighthouse. After that, families can meet Ozosnel, Sinterklaas' beautiful white horse, at GDK Park. The adventure wraps up at Sinterklaas' lodge (The Warm Friend), where families can take memorable photos with Sinterklaas himself!
"This new celebration celebrates Holland's Dutch heritage while making sure everyone in our community can join in on the fun," said Chad Mesbergen, Director of Events and Operations for Tulip Time. "By spreading the celebration across downtown, we can show off our city while giving kids a magical experience."
Passports are $5 each. Adults and siblings may accompany passport holders at no cost. Be sure to purchase a ticket for anyone hoping to receive their own goodies and lanterns.
Families are encouraged to arrive early and dress warmly for December weather, as there might be some waiting outside. Public parking is available downtown during the event.
