Tulip Time Celebrates National Quilting Day

HOLLAND, Mich. – [March 12, 2024], Tulip Time Festival, Inc. Celebrates National Quilting Day.

In celebration of National Quilting Month during March and specifically National Quilting Day on Saturday, March 16th, Tulip Time Festival (www.tuliptime.com) is announcing the annual Tulip Time Quilt Raffle. This year’s raffle quilt was revealed at First Bloem and will be on display at the Apothecary Gift Shop in downtown Holland beginning Tuesday, April 2nd at 10 am and will be on display there through Sunday, May 12^th.

This year the Tulip Time Quilt Show will be held at Midtown Center, 96 West 15^th Street in Holland. The 2^nd floor Study Hall at Midtown Center offers one open space with natural lighting for a striking layout of the quilts. Patrons are able to park along 15^th Street or use the parking lot off of 16^th Street with an elevator near the entrance door for access to the 2^nd floor.

The Quilt Show is a unique display of 100 beautiful, hand-made bed and wall quilts. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorites as part of the Viewer’s Choice competition. 1^st through 10^th places will be announced on Saturday, May 11th.

Each year the Tulip Time Quilt Show Committee creates a raffle quilt. This year, the 41” square quilt, pieced and appliquéd by Sally Leep and Cheryl Zylman with Barb Schippa, is a whimsical depiction of a Dutch countryside. The quilt coordinates with the Bikes and Blooms theme of our 95^th Tulip Time Festival. It is machine appliquéd using various cotton fabrics. The machine quilting, done by Living Threads, enhances the scene with quilted clouds and grass. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at the Tulip Time Office, 42 West 8^th Street, Holland. They will also be available beginning April 2 at Apothecary Gift Shop, downtown Holland, and during the Tulip Time Quilt Show at Midtown Center May 4-12.
