Zeeland BPW Awards $23k in Community Grants

The Zeeland Board of Public Works (BPW) held its annual Community Grant Program again this spring, and the results are in! This initiative underscores Zeeland BPW's commitment to supporting and fostering community development while ensuring the City of Zeeland continues to thrive for generations to come.

The Community Grant Program awarded reimbursement grants totaling up to $23,000 and aims to channel resources back into the community. The goal of this annual grant is to fuel projects that enhance the quality of life for Zeeland residents. This year’s recipients include The Bridge Youth Center,  Parkview Adult Foster Care, and Upward Bound Ministries.

The Bridge Youth Center on Main Street is focused on reaching local seniors to build relationships and develop intergenerational teams to volunteer and mentor local kids in their program. Parkview Adult Foster Care, also located in the heart of Zeeland, plans to use its grant dollars towards repairs and enhancements, thereby preserving the historic value of its home. The final awardee, Upward Bound Ministries, aims to continue ongoing student programming focused in the Zeeland area and will use their funding to support student camps, volunteer opportunities, and fishing expeditions.

“Each year as the grant applications are received, reviewed, and funded, we feel immensely hopeful for the future of Zeeland and its residents,” stated General Manager Andrew Boatright. “Our vision is to see Zeeland thrive for years to come, and we believe each of the above recipients will continue to further that vision.”
